The mission of the Virgins until Marriage  -  Civil Society Organization of  the African Union and the European Union (acronym: VM) is to promote a universal value of virginity until marriage with the "virginity is important!" slogan supported by an effective reward system action for virginity protection and by protest against abuse, torture and humiliation of virgins. Virginity as the source of world’s harmony preserves morals, saves lives, decreases morbidity, boosts self-esteem, enhances careers, opposes slavery, counteracts crime, strengthens families, empowers communities, spares funds and therefore should be protected by all means available and not to a lesser extent than those pitiful and deadly ideas that violate human rights of the young ones of both genders and rob them of their unrenewable assets for profiteering or sheer pervert amusement. Virginophobia, i. e. the irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against virginity or virgins should be condemned and penalized, as well as the damage due to robbery of virginity fully compensated.

Rationale

VM offers normal people (the helpless youth, worried parents and frustrated spouses among others) and their leaders a crucial solution for three menaces threatening both continents that the Mediterranean Sea touches. These are: demographic collapse, human rights violation, and disaster profiteering.

The epidemiological evidence is clear. AIDS decimating Sub-Saharan Africa and chlamydiasis destroying fertility in Europe result from promiscuous voluntary activeness of one fifth of adults.  Themselves victims of human rights violation ‘the walking sources of epidemics’ proliferate their traumas and attack more and more young people of both genders. They are encouraged and easily excused by a news and entertainment industry hostile to universal values and supportive to mass disaster profiteers: pornography and prostitution business organizers, prophylaxis and treatment suppliers, and social structure disintegration instigators, agents of influence among them.

Those who lose their virginity early are more likely to have multiple sexual partners, fuel epidemics and social pathologies.

Those who fight virginity with mockery, ridicule, and scorn are responsible for all the revealed and hidden harm they do.

A common sense type preventive measure to physical and moral abuses of individuals that add to mass disasters caused by promiscuity is raising the “herd immunity”, as it is called in epidemiological jargon, by promotion of a universal value of virginity until marriage. The VM mission priorities are endorsed by lessons learnt from African (i. e. South Africa, Uganda, Sierra Leone) and European (OURSELVES FOR OURSELVES Youth Peer Education Movement in Poland), experiences, as well as the SILVER RING THING program, which encourages young adults to remain as a virgin until marriage, until recently funded by the US federal government. Yes, we can! In Africa and Europe now.

Wreath – a primaeval depiction of female virginity

Wreath is a symbolic replica of the thickened, sleeve-like, redundant, fimbriated hymen and as such has been used for millennia to symbolize virginity in Slavic peoples, including indigenous inhabitants of the territory of Europe's oldest civilization (5,000 BC), eastward from the later German-Slavic boundary named by the Germans in the 9th century AD 'Limes Sorabicus'.

A universal value of virginity until marriage is a spiritual obligation of two major world religions which are declared by more than half of citizens of the member countries of the African Union and the European Union (African population: 45.8% Muslims, 15.3% Roman Catholics; non-Eastern European population: 54.8% Roman Catholics, 4.3% Muslims), therefore a fundamental human right, freedom of religion of Muslims, Catholics, and any of affected spiritual minorities living on the territory of the two blocks is undoubtedly violated in all instances of abuse, torture and humiliation of virgins,  virginophobia, and robbery of virginity. Universal declarations of human rights provide a range of tools to protect  physical, moral and psychological integrity of virgins, regardless of religion or beliefs. Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) mostly go unnoticed until it is too late and the consequences of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) become incurable. Asking questions “Do you have AIDS, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, herpes, trichomonas, candida, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, CMV infection, genital warts (including these types that  cause cervical cancer), and the like?” makes no sense since infected people simply have no idea what they carry and transmit to others. Only a doctor can diagnose an STI, because the signs and symptoms of STDs vary and overlap  with symptoms of other STDs and all other diseases. It may create a sense of false security asking “Have you been tested for HIV/AIDS?” since an infected person can transmit HIV during the window period, which is the time from getting infected until a blood test can detect any change. Much more effective would be avoiding risks of deadly diseases by following, if possible, the strict rules of The UK National Blood Service which say plainly who can't give blood . Those who can’t give blood because they are or might be infected with HIV, hepatitis B, C and/or syphilis etc. can’t be regarded as safe and might be   held liable for passing an STI to a virgin unaware of risky behaviours of his or her partner. more

Be reasonable, know what really works.

Higher levels of family religiosity, including parents’ beliefs, prayer and religious service practices, and the frequency of family participation in religious activities,  contribute to decreased sexual initiation among adolescents, older age at coitarche and indirectly to decreased sexual partners. Having a two-parent family and parents who encourage their children to avoid having sex are also associated with a decrease in sexual exposures. Abstinence programs encourage unmarried individuals to abstain from sexual activity as the best and only certain way to protect themselves from exposure to HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. Abstinence until marriage programs are particularly important for young people, as approximately half of all new infections occur in the 15- to 24-year-old age group.  Delaying first sexual encounter can have a significant impact on the health and well-being of adolescents and on the progress of the epidemic in communities.  The younger people are when having sex for the first time, the more susceptible they become to developing an STD. The risk of acquiring an STD also increases with the number of partners over a lifetime.  Immaturity of the cervix of the womb in teenagers and young women means that its protective barrier is weak and only 1 cell thick (30 - 40 cells thick in older women). During sexual intercourse germs causing STIs get easily inoculated into the immature cervix. This is why non virgin girls under the age of 20 have higher rates of infection of HIV than older women or young men. AIDS (caused by HIV), cervical cancer (caused by high-risk HPVs types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 39, 45, 51, 52, 56, 58, 59, 66, 68, and 73 ), infertility, ectopic pregnancy and other complications of pelvic inflammatory disease (caused by chlamydial and other STIs) constitute a price of sexual intercourses under the age of 20. Montse Magadan became HIV positive when she lost her virginity, aged 16.  Prevention of cervical cancer can be achieved in one of two ways: preventing infection initially or detecting the precursors to cervical cancer and providing treatment. The former method is called primary prevention and can be accomplished by avoiding exposure to the virus through abstinence from sexual activity or through  mutual monogamy forever, provided both partners—not just one—are consistently monogamous and were not previously infected. Condoms provide only about 70% protection against HPV when used all of the time.  more

All of us are born as virgins but normal people do not dispute over virginity of newborns.  The same normal people cast doubts on the value of virginity of immature teenagers who have not reached this stage of physical and mental development that allows them to make an informed choice. Immature young people are privileged by laws protecting their undisturbed development and should be aware of their privileges since convicted pedophiles who rape minors and condemned ephebophiles who ruin lives of mid-to-late adolescents are just the tip of the iceberg of those who persuade, induce, entice, or coerce minor children and adolescents to engage in activities which shorten the inborn stage of virginity. Legal protection of virginity is nothing but a minimum national effort granted to virgins to protect their human rights and in fact legitimatises cruel exploitation of those young people who in spite of having reached the age of consent are still far (5 and many more years ahead) from being physically, mentally, and socially ready to take responsibility for their choices. Sound families, communities and nations strive to protect all developmental stages of their teenagers and young adults and support protection of virginity until marriage. These efforts are being undermined by discreditors of virginity who simply surrender to the culture of rape. Here is an example of counterproductive reasoning: “Another harmful cultural belief that makes women vulnerable to contracting HIV is the value placed on virginity. In some cultures, people believe that if a man has sex with a virgin woman, he will be cleansed of his infections. Young, virgin girls and women are at a higher risk of being raped by men influenced by this common misperception. These girls and women are especially vulnerable to HIV because of the distinct injuries that result from forced sexual activity and the likelihood that their perpetrators have had multiple sexual partners.” more

In the midst of the storm of the First World War, when she was only sixteen she sacrificed her life to God, killed by a Russian soldier as she resisted his advances. The war broke out in July 1914. In November the Russian army cleared the Vistula River. On November 10 they captured Tarnow and on November 17 they captured Zabawa and Wal-Ruda. The situation was getting dangerous; there were threats of confiscations so people were trying to hide their properties in the forest. Everyone was telling about Russian soldiers who were raping young women. Everyone was terrified.

At the first day of occupation a soldier came to Kozka's house but he left after having a meal. The next day, on November 18, at about 9 a.m. another armed Russian soldier came to their house. He asked about the Austrian army, he refused to have a meal and told Karolina and her father to go with them, allegedly to the commanding officer. He led them towards the forest but when they reached the edge of it, the soldier told Karolina's father to leave them and go back home. The terrorized man turned back, leaving his daughter alone with soldier. The witnesses of the imminent events were two boys coming back towards the village. They hid themselves behind the bushes and saw Karolina struggling with an assailant and running towards the swamps that turned out to be the rescue for her as they made the chase difficult for the soldier. He abandoned the chase when he saw that she fall dead of loss of blood. Her body was found only on December 4. The wounds she sustained do bear witness to the greatness of her suffering and show her heroic defence of her innocence and purity. A carefully prepared report describes thoroughly the place of her martyrdom and claims the intact virginity of the Martyr. Having imitated Christ already in her life, and always obedient to the will of God, in the last moments of her life she refused to sin and accepted her own death as the greatest  confirmation of her love of God. Thus Karolina was conformed to Christ in the shedding of her blood. (...) On June 30, 1986 in the presence of Pope John Paul II, the "decree of the martyrdom of the Servant of God, Karolina Kozka" was proclaimed. Her beatification took place on June 10, 1987, during the third pastoral visit of His Holiness to his native country, Poland. Since then the cult of the Blessed Karolina is spreading all over the world.  (...) Her relics were procured by numerous communities in USA, Kazakhstan, Peru, Chad, and Congo and many churches in Poland as well. She is the patron saint of the Diocese of Rzeszów as well as many parishes. The Blessed Karolina is regarded by most of people, parishioners and pilgrims as well, as the great example to people of the Third Millennium because of her humility, courage and trust in God. Apart from its holistic, spiritual, and emotional context, for men and women marriage means knowing what to expect, belonging to one's self-formed family, rasing happy children, and being helped in need.

The most important part of a Catholic wedding is the exchange of vows:
Groom: I, (name), take you, (name), to be my wife. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

 Bride: I, (name), take you, (name), to be my husband. I promise to be true to you in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. I will love you and honor you all the days of my life.

Muslim couples do not generally recite vows but rather listen to the words of the imam, or cleric, who speaks about the significance of the commitment of the marriage and the couple's responsibilities toward each other and Allah.  However, some Muslim brides and grooms do choose to also exchange vows:

Bride: "I, (name), offer you myself in marriage and in accordance with the instructions of the Holy Koran and the Holy Prophet, peace and blessing be upon him. I pledge, in honesty and with sincerity, to be for you an obedient and faithful wife."

Virgins seem easy prey for mischievous predators who exploit ruthlessly fundamental human needs of love, respect, intimacy and belonging, as well as strong sexual urges in minors, adolescents and not-yet-married adults.  A simple trick like hugging, especially for women, releases neurochemicals that can increase trust in the hugger. After a hug lasting 20 seconds, the brain produces oxytocin that turns on the trust response and dulls more critical judgment.  Touching on the shoulder, the side of the waist, arms or hands plays a similar role in seduce tactics. Generous compliments, series of jokes, humour, funny stories, suddenly discovered common interests and hobbies, all may lead to infatuation and its grave consequences. Experienced seducers view their victims as nothing but sex toys. They even pretend to be passionately in love with their prey until they get bored and find an easy excuse to cease  the relationship. The everlasting love suggestions and promises prove deceitful soon after the virgin gives up her irrenewable asset. Virginity robbing from immature virgins and virginity stealing from mature but still naive virgins are common crimes of deception which almost never get punished and redressed. Cunning foxes triumph over their victims with great self-satisfaction and are applauded by other human rights violators. Some serial devirginators use comically ridiculous arguments to manipulate their victims. Probably most stupid is here: “Humans are no better than other animals and hence can’t resist animal instincts". Someone who can't tell the difference between humans and animals is a soul denier and is far more wrong than hymen deniers, since a congenital absence of hymen exceptionally occurs, however is extremely rare as a part of severe genital  malformations (ICD -10: Q52.0   Congenital absence of vagina, Q52.7 Congenital absence of vulva). Judging 'better' humans or animals, forgetting elaborated courtship rituals in animals, not realizing differences in brain size and functioning of humans and bonobo chimpanzees says a lot about those who use such arguments to take the virginity of the human person. Luckily, mature virgins are smarter and know how to dismiss such as nonsense. Do people hate you, humiliate you, ridicule you? That's not important. God loves you! There are at least two reasons why God loves you so much. First, it is His nature to love. God is love. Love is the word that best describes God's nature. Second, you are His creation. God loves you just as good earthly parents love their offspring. People may not seem very special to others, but to their mother and father they are always special. This should help you understand how God could really like you -- even though you may not like yourself very much. Also, God sees you as you can be and will become - not just as you are now. God has faith in you and in His ability to make you someone special. Feeling not good enough?  Don't panic. God doesn't love you because you are a good person or do everything right. If you have accepted merciful God, nothing can separate you from His love. Due to God's mercy, even your sins can't separate you from God. We all sin. We all are forgiven if we confess and repent our sins, and want to do everything in our power to redress the past. In return, you are obliged to  love all the people  and treat other people the way that you would want to be treated. God is the All-Peace, the All-Merciful.  God loves you, but do you love yourself?  No one is going to love you if you don’t love yourself.  It is not your fault if you don't love yourself and you can't love other people, and because of it no one loves you. Many of us have been taught to hate ourselves, to consider ourselves less equal and to think our needs are not important—just by the very act of abuse. The act of neglect, of sexual or physical abuse, and of ritual abuse all carry the message that we weren't worthy of loving, compassionate treatment. If we received verbal or emotional abuse that told us even more overtly that we were worthless, trash, or to be hated, well, those messages just piled up inside. Abusers often foster or encourage self-hate messages, because it makes their victims more compliant and easy to abuse. ...but those messages aren't true. They are tools used by abusers to break spirits and continue abuse. To start loving yourself you need to make a list of your assets. Valentinus was a holy priest in Rome, who assisted the martyrs in the persecution under Emperor Claudius II. The primordial tradition of celebrating women as virgins has been most impressively restored to humanity in 1984 by His Majesty Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, the reigning king of the Zulu nation. The event was started about 200 years ago during the reign of King Shaka Zulu and was stopped in 1879 when King Cetshwayo was arrested by British colonialists. Once a year, during the second week of September, tens of thousands of virgins travel to the Zulu nation's royal residence at KwaNyokeni Palace in Nongoma to take part in the Royal Reed Dance festival (Umkhosi woMhlanga in the Zulu language).  The girls must pass a virginity test to attend. Intense counseling sessions are held on the Friday and Saturday morning where senior women from the Royal House and the community counsel the young girls on Zulu traditional values, the do's and don'ts for young women, and how to deal with rape, which is at epidemic levels in South Africa. The main attraction of the ceremony is the presentation of the reeds by maidens to the King. Maidens in traditional regalia take turns in dancing in a variety of styles in front of the King. This has a historical and symbolic significance in that it marks the contribution made by maidens in building the nation. The girls practice this ritual on their own free will and are proud to do so.  Each maiden carries a reed which has been cut by the riverbed and it symbolizes the power that is vested in nature. It is believed that if a young woman who is not a virgin takes part in the ceremony, her reed breaks, which embarrasses her in front of the assembled guests and her parents. If the reeds do break, girls defend themselves by saying that it has been broken by the wind.
In recognition of their contribution to sustainable human development the Zulu virgins and their leaders should be praised worldwide. Therefore, Virgins until Marriage - Civil Society Organization of  the African Union and the European Union declared ALL VIRGINS' DAY which is a feast celebrated in early September in honour of all the virgins, known and unknown. Ngiyabonga! (means Thank you! in isiZulu, the language of the Zulu people).  more

Virgin is a person who has never had sexual intercourse.  Sexual intercourse (also called coitus, or copulation) is reproductive act in which the male reproductive organ enters the female reproductive tract. If the reproductive act is complete, sperm cells are passed from the male body into the female, in the process fertilizing the female egg and forming a new organism.  Sexual intercourse is sex, but "sex" is not limited to intercourse; not even limited, in fact, to genital activities. In reality, "sex" describes a huge range of activities. This is half of a dialectic: many things can be sex because sex has whatever meaning we experience moment by moment; and sex has an infinite range of meanings because the scope of activities that can properly be called sexual is so vast.”  One of the best-known sound bites of Bill Clinton’s presidency was denial: “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”. Clinton later stated that he believed the agreed-upon definition of sexual relations excluded his receiving oral sex. NB. All penetrative sex (where the penis enters the vagina, mouth, or anus) carries risk of STIs for both, lessened to some extent by condoms. There are no medical signs and symptoms of male or female virginity with one exception, which is presence of the halat hymen at the opening of the vagina. The hymen is a body part, also known as virginal membrane, it is a tight or loose and flexible rim, fringe of tissue around the vaginal opening that partly covers the entrance to the vagina of a virgin. While the professionally detected presence of a certain type of intact hymen indicates virginity, the absence of one is definitely not a proof a woman is not a virgin.  An innocent, pure, or prudent virgin can be robbed of her virginity and remain innocent, pure, or prudent. There are many ways to sluttify virgins. A gang rape to make an abducted virgin ready for prostitution is the way generally considered most outrageous. The rape victim's coping mechanisms rarely make the trauma bearable. Even drugs, alcohol and forced sex fail to erase memories of normal life and morals. Logically, virgins coerced into prostitution are prostitutes but not sluts. The other pole of the sluttification process is linked to incest. There are two kinds of incest:  direct incest, which is overt sexual activity between family members other than spouses; and indirect incest, the providing of children by their parents to others in order for them to be sexually abused. Parents and guardians who allow their child to be abused by other family members, friends, acquaintances, caretakers or teachers, as well as by entertainment industry products, schooling system, and public space exhibitions and events, are as much responsible for ruined lives as those who commit direct incest.  Thus parents and guardians are guilty of premature and therefore forced sexualization of their young ones, who become addicted to sexual gratification offered and/or witnessed by paedophiliacs.  Too early and unnecessarily discovered power of sexual pleasure undermines the age-appropriate education and formation, opens wide the gates to promiscuity, pornography, drugs, alcohol, gambling, shopping and many other deadly addictions. Addicts are easy to manipulate. This is why sluttification from the cradle is so eagerly supported by corrupted elites and tycoons. Along with discovering sexual gratification other rewards in exchange for sexual favours are desired. There are entertainments, gifts, money. Not knowingly a sluttified virgin turns into an underage prostitute. In such an destructive environment, more sooner than later a virgin loses his or her virginity. A prematurely deflorated child or adolescent becomes a community role model, noxious to human health and well-being, infinitely magnified by mass media scorn for virgins waiting until marriage. These virgins who enjoyed a privilege of having good parents and guardians and were efficiently protected from forced sexualization until maturity, and their virginity hasn't been robbed nor stolen, can finally decide if they want to lose or offer their virginity. more

or they heal with scars hardly detectable

without specialist testing techniques.

Typical elastic hymen

Fraud-proof hymen - halat hymen

The imperforate, cribriform, and septate hymens frequencies of occurrence differ considerably due to variety of interrelated genetic and environmental factors influencing the reproductive system development. The global average estimated from scarce medical evidence could range from 3 % to 4 %. In some populations the imperforate hymen can be diagnosed in 0.1 % of newborns and requires a small surgical intervention as soon as possible after birth to enable undisturbed development of the genital tract and save the girl from unnecessary suffering and embarrassment in case the surgery would be postponed until she develops signs and symptoms of hematocolpos during puberty. If the surgery is properly done and well documented, the patient reaching her marriageable age enjoys the same opportunities of offering her husband a fraud-free hymen as other halat hymen gifted women do.
